Iran has issued a counter warning to the United States amidst reports that Washington is preparing for ground operations. Iran has warned that its forces are waiting for US ground troops so that they can rain fire on them. The country has accused the US of plotting a ground attack despite publicly engaging in diplomatic efforts. In a stark warning, Iran stated that American soldiers ‘will be food for sharks’. An Iranian official dismissed the possibility of ground operations and occupation of any point on Iranian territory as ‘nothing more than a dream’. The official added that Iraqi fighters have been patiently waiting for such actions, warning that occupation will not lead to suppression and that American commanders and soldiers ‘will be a good bait for the Persian Gulf’.
