Earlier, Iran had issued a statement apologising to neighbouring countries, stating it would not attack them unless provoked. However, strikes have been reported in Gulf countries neighbouring Iran. The remarks follow a previous statement by Pezeshkian that drew criticism domestically, with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Chief Ali Lajjani asserting that military decisions are the responsibility of armed forces, not politicians. Iran maintains it is defending itself against attacks initiated by the United States and Israel, with tensions continuing to escalate across the region.
