The Iran-Israel conflict has entered a new phase after Tehran reportedly deployed its advanced Sejjil-2 ballistic missile. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims the missile was used in strikes targeting Israel.
The Sejjil-2 is a solid-fuel, medium-range ballistic missile with an estimated range of around 2,000 kilometres, allowing it to reach targets deep inside Israel.
Its use marks a significant escalation after days of sustained U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets. The missile’s solid-fuel design allows for quicker launch and greater mobility, making it harder to intercept or target before launch.
Iran has previously used waves of missiles and drones in retaliation, but the deployment of more advanced systems signals a potential shift in the intensity and capability of its response.
