Iran Strike Halts Qatar LNG Hub, Ras Laffan Hit as Global Energy Crisis Fears Intensify | War News

Qatar has accused Iran of striking the Ras Laffan LNG facility, calling the attack aggressive and irresponsible. The facility is the world’s largest LNG production unit and export hub, producing roughly 20 percent of the entire global LNG supply. Qatar’s officials stated that Iran’s strike was a direct retaliatory attack following Israel’s strikes on Iran’s Pars oil field infrastructure. The attack has halted production at Ras Laffan, raising concerns about a global energy crisis. Qatar supplies a significant portion of LNG to multiple countries, including India, which receives approximately 70 percent of its LNG from Qatar. According to earlier reports, the CEO of the facility indicated that renovation would take five years and cost five billion dollars annually, with a 17 percent decline in production anticipated. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries have warned Iran against further attacks of this magnitude, as interceptions of drones and ballistic missiles continue in the airspace of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
