Iran has confirmed receiving a 15-point ceasefire proposal from the United States through Pakistani intermediaries, but Tehran has dismissed the idea of negotiating with Washington. The proposal was handed over by Pakistan to Iranian officials even as the US began moving paratroopers to the Middle East to back up Marines already deployed there. Iran’s military has scoffed at diplomatic efforts and continues launching attacks on Israel and the Persian Gulf, including an assault that sparked a fire at Kuwait International Airport. Despite public posturing from both sides, back-channel talks appear to be continuing, with Reuters reporting that venue of talks are still being discussed. India Today Global’s Pranay Upadhyay, reporting from Tel Aviv, notes there are no signs of de-escalation, with Israel continuing airstrikes over Iran. The conflict has caused significant global disruption, particularly in energy supplies, with countries across West Asia and East Asia facing shortages.
