Iran has launched a campaign called Janfada, meaning ‘sacrificing life’, to recruit volunteers to fight American forces amid reports that the US may launch a ground operation against Iran. According to a text message sent to mobile subscribers in Iran, the country is actively recruiting volunteers and expanding checkpoints amid the ground invasion threat. Iran has previously warned that troops entering Iran will not leave alive. The development comes as the West Asia war escalates, with recent drone attacks by Iranian proxies in Iraq and Israeli bombardment of Tehran targeting important power utilities. The recruitment campaign appears to be an attempt to increase Iran’s infantry and fighting forces as tensions mount in the region.
