Iran conducted a drone strike targeting the UAE’s diplomatic mission in Iraq’s Erbil, causing structural damage and a fire at the consulate. The attack occurred hours after Gulf nations expressed frustration over being unfairly targeted in the ongoing West Asia conflict. Iran had previously announced it would not target neighbouring countries, raising questions about mixed messaging from Tehran and possible divisions within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Meanwhile, in the UAE, the Indian community has established an emergency control room in Ajman, approximately 70 kilometres from Dubai, to assist stranded travellers. The Indian People’s Forum, working with the Indian embassy, has received around 1600 distress calls and helped approximately 600 people return safely to India. The control room provides assistance with accommodation, food, transport, visa issues, and flight rebooking for the estimated 20,000 stranded passengers affected by flight cancellations.
