The Indian Premier League will resume on May 17 after a week-long suspension due to fighting between India and Pakistan. A ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours has paved the way for the tournament’s return, with 17 matches scheduled across six cities. The IPL governing council has said that security agencies and key stakeholders approved the decision. The final will be played on June 3, with playoff venues to be announced later. In another development, ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in the U.S., Argentina has handed over a list of 15,000 violent football fans to American authorities, barring them from attending matches. Security Minister Patricia Bullrich has said that the list targets individuals banned from Argentine stadiums due to prior offenses. The tournament, from June 14 to July 13, will feature Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate among 32 global teams. The move is part of a crackdown on football-related violence.
