In an exclusive interview with India Today in Tehran, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is prepared for both war and peace as he heads to Geneva for the third round of talks with the United States. Araghchi stated, ‘We are fully prepared for both options. War, God forbid, and peace.’ He dismissed claims made in US President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, calling the assertion that Iran is developing long-range missiles and the figure of 32,000 deaths in recent protests ‘fake news.’ Araghchi clarified that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons, saying, ‘We have no intention to go for nuclear weapons.’ He confirmed Iran’s support for groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, describing them as fighting for a just cause. Araghchi warned that if war occurs, US bases in the region would be legitimate targets, though he emphasised diplomacy as the preferred path.
