Inter-Ministerial Briefing: Govt Urges States To Waive Charges, Clear Pipeline Approvals | LPG News

In an inter-ministerial briefing, the government addressed the ongoing LPG supply situation amid the West Asia crisis. Officials stated that while the situation remains worrisome, there is no dry-out at any LPG distributor, and domestic cylinder deliveries continue as before. The government has written to all state governments and Union Territories requesting deemed approval for pending pipeline permissions, waiver of road restoration and permission charges, and appointment of nodal officers for faster coordination. About 94% of LPG bookings are now happening online. Officials appealed to citizens to avoid panic booking, use alternate fuels like PNG or induction cooktops where possible, and conserve LPG. Commercial LPG supplies, partially restored earlier, have been curtailed to ensure domestic supply. Enforcement actions across states have led to around 12,000 raids and seizure of approximately 15,000 cylinders. Meanwhile, two LPG carriers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, reached Kandla and began discharging cargo. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that around 650 Indian nationals, including students, have crossed from Iran into Armenia and Azerbaijan, with 130 pilgrims expected to arrive in Delhi. The MEA control room remains operational, though queries have significantly reduced.
