The Centre has stepped in after widespread disruption in IndiGo’s flight operations triggered major passenger complaints. Officials from the DGCA, Civil Aviation Ministry and Airports Authority of India held a review meeting with the Prime Minister’s Office to assess refund delays, baggage issues and crowd management at airports.
Following the review, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was summoned by the Civil Aviation Ministry, and the airline was directed to cancel 10% of its flights. Over 5,000 flights were cancelled in November alone, prompting regulatory scrutiny.
