Honorable Minister Dr. Jeetendra Singh addressed the media on the recent advancements in India’s space sector. He questioned why the sector’s significant growth has occurred only in the last few years, attributing it to the adoption of global benchmarks and strategies. The Minister recounted the 2018 announcement by the Prime Minister regarding India’s first human space mission from the ramparts of Redford, a plan delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted the exponential growth of India’s space economy, which currently stands at 8 billion US dollars and is projected to reach 40-45 billion US dollars. The number of space startups has also surged from single digits to over 300.
