India's Electric Rocket: 3D-Printed, Reusable & Costs Just ₹30 To Launch! | Reporter Diary

This special report focuses on the Chennai-based firm Space Kidz India and its founder, Dr. Srimathi Kesan, who are developing a revolutionary eco-friendly and reusable electric rocket. According to Dr. Kesan, ‘this is the one industry that can really make India a superpower… not with regards to wars and weapons but with regards to research.’ The report delves into the innovative technology behind the rocket, which is built using 3D printing, bioplastics, and carbon fibre, making it exceptionally cost-effective with a per-launch cost of around 30 rupees. With the goal of making space research accessible to students, the rocket is designed to carry small payloads to an altitude of 4-5 kilometres. Dr. Kesan, a recent recipient of the prestigious Brand Laureate Award, founded Space Kidz India to groom the next generation of scientists, with past successes including the development of KalamSat, the world’s lightest satellite launched by NASA.
