Indian PM Modi will visit Ukraine this week and meet President Zelensky. The first Ukraine visit by an Indian PM after establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992. The visit comes weeks after PM Modi met President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Talks on cooperation in defence, economic ties, science and tech; and other sectors. Indian Govt: The ongoing conflict in Ukraine will form a part of discussions. India has urged Russia & Ukraine to resolve the conflict through dialogue & diplomacy. India has time-tested ties with Russia & Moscow is a major defence supplier. India has become a key buyer of Russian oil following sanctions imposed by the West. PM Modi and Zelensky met in June on the sidelines of the G7 meet in Italy. The two leaders have also spoken several times by phone since start of the war. India-Ukraine bilateral trade has grown significantly in the last 25 years. Since war began in Ukraine, India has provided almost 100 tons of humanitarian aid.
