Indian-origin Sabih Khan Named Apple's COO, Joining Elite League of Global Tech Leaders

Sabih Khan, born in Moradabad, India in 1966, has been named Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, succeeding Jeff Williams in a planned transition. Khan, who joined Apple in 1995, has spent three decades building the company’s global operations, including procurement and sustainability efforts. He was instrumental in reducing Apple’s carbon footprint by over 60% and played a key role in reshoring manufacturing to the US and India. Khan joins a growing league of Indian-origin leaders commanding global tech giants, including Sundar Pichai at Alphabet, Satya Nadella at Microsoft, and Shantanu Narayan at Adobe. Together, these leaders represent a powerful diaspora controlling companies with a market value of nearly $6 trillion, which is 50% more than India’s GDP. The appointment is seen as a historic moment for Indian-origin talent in the global tech industry, with potential implications for strengthening Apple’s supply chain resilience with India.
