In a major boost to India’s maritime security, the Indian Navy has commissioned INAS 335 ‘Ospreys’, its second squadron of MH-60R ‘Romeo’ multi-role helicopters, at INS Hansa in Goa. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Tripathi presided over the ceremony. Commanding Officer Captain Dhirendra Bisht described the new squadron as the ‘eyes, ears and first hunters of the fleet,’ emphasizing their critical role in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and surveillance in the Indian Ocean Region. The show, hosted by Gaurav Sawant, features insights from Senior Pilot Lt Cdr Prakhar Bhargava, Vice Admiral Shekhar Sinha (Retd), and Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil (Retd) on how these ‘flying frigates’ will counter growing Chinese naval activity.
