The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its new naval satellite, CMS-03 or GSAT-7R, on November 2, 2025, for the Indian Navy. This advanced 2,650 kg military communication satellite will enhance secure, real-time communication across ships, submarines, and aircraft in the Indian Ocean region.
Serving as a successor to the GSAT-7 (Rukmini), GSAT-7R will significantly strengthen India’s maritime security by providing wider geostationary coverage and multi-band communication capabilities, essential for network-centric warfare and operations like Operation Sindoor. It will ensure seamless coordination and data sharing during naval operations, reinforcing India’s defence preparedness and blue-water capabilities.
