India’s LPG tanker Shivalik arrived safely at Mundra port in Gujarat after navigating the Strait of Hormuz, carrying nearly 40,000 metric tons of LPG from Qatar. The shipment provides critical relief amid West Asia conflict straining LPG supply lines. The vessel, operated by Shipping Corporation of India, sailed from Ras Laffan port in Qatar. Following diplomatic engagement between Delhi and Tehran, Iran granted special transit clearance to Shivalik and another LPG tanker, Nandadevi. Both vessels were escorted by the Indian Navy through the volatile maritime corridor. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed India has been in constant touch with Tehran, clarifying that India has not secured any blanket guarantee for safe passage nor offered any concessions to Iran. Another LPG carrier, Nanda Devi, has also safely transited the strait and is expected to arrive at Kandla port. Twenty-two Indian vessels carrying energy cargo remain in the Persian Gulf with 611 Indian seafarers on board.
