An Indian LPG tanker, Shivalik, has successfully docked at Mundra Port in Gujarat after crossing the Strait of Hormuz war zone, carrying approximately 20,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas from Qatar. The vessel, carrying 27 crew members including the captain, will offload half its cargo at Mundra before proceeding to Mangalore. Another tanker, Nandadevi, carrying around 45,000 metric tonnes, is expected to dock at Vadinar Port tomorrow. Six Indian tankers have been confirmed en route to India, collectively carrying over 92,000 metric tonnes of LPG, equivalent to a 1.5-day supply for the country. The shipments aim to ease the domestic LPG cylinder shortage witnessed across India in recent days. India has negotiated safe passage through Iranian territorial waters for its vessels. Around 700 Indian crew members were stranded on 28 ships in the region when the conflict began, with India’s sailing community being the largest globally at 23,000 sailors.
