In a rare recognition of courage beyond Earth’s atmosphere, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was conferred the Ashoka Chakra, the country’s highest peacetime gallantry award, on Republic Day by the President of India.
The honour was awarded for Shukla’s role in a high-risk space mission involving operations aboard a space station, marking a significant moment in India’s expanding human spaceflight ambitions.
