Indian Army Renames Fort William As 'Vijay Durg' As Part Of Modi Government's Decolonisation Effort

The Indian Army has decided to rename Fort William in Kolkata as part of the Modi government’s decolonisation efforts. The historic fortress, built by the British in 1781, will be renamed Vijayadurga, paying homage to the oldest fort on Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg coast. The decision was made in mid-December 2024, with internal military communications already adopting the new name. An official announcement is pending. #indianarmy #fortwilliam #vijaydurg #itwebvideos #kolkata #decolonisation #modigovernment #vijayadurga #militaryheritage #coloniallegacy #britishraj #chhatrapatishivaji #indianhistory #armyreforms
