The Indian Army has launched a swift and coordinated humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation following a devastating cloudburst near Dharali. The region is currently cut off from both north and south due to multiple road breaches and a collapsed bridge. Over 225 Army personnel, including infantry and engineering teams, are on the ground for search, rescue, and relief tasks. Seven teams are operating with RICO radar, and search and rescue dogs are deployed. Communication remains a challenge, with the army using satellite phones. NDRF, SDRF, and fire brigade teams are also involved, with airlift operations underway to transport personnel and equipment. Road access to affected areas like Dharali village and Harshal is next to impossible, making air operations crucial for supplying logistics and facilitating evacuation.
