The India national cricket team booked their place in the second consecutive T20 World Cup final after defeating the England national cricket team in a thrilling semi-final at Wankhede Stadium.
India posted a record total of 253, the highest ever in a knockout match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Star batter Sanju Samson scored a brilliant 89 runs, giving India a strong start.
England responded with a powerful chase led by Jacob Bethell, who smashed 105 runs off just 48 balls and kept the match alive till the end.
India held their nerve thanks to key performances from Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled economically despite the high scoring game. Hardik Pandya delivered a crucial penultimate over with two wickets, while Axar Patel changed the game with three important catches.
With this victory, India now lead 2-1 in T20 World Cup semi-final encounters against England and move one step closer to the trophy.
