Discussions on the India-United States trade relationship are set to continue with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal expected to visit Washington DC soon. The talks aim to finalize a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), negotiations for which began in March 2025 but stalled in August 2025. This development follows a recent visit to India by Assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch for a new round of negotiations with Indian officials. The resumption of dialogue also comes after US President Donald Trump commented on understanding the impact of tariffs on the bilateral relationship and praised his partnership with Prime Minister Modi. The objective is to achieve an early conclusion of the trade agreement, which would override reciprocal tariffs recently imposed by the US.
