Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met in Mumbai, building on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signed in July. Key outcomes include an agreement for nine UK universities to establish campuses in India, with Southampton University’s Gurugram campus already operational. Defence cooperation is also being enhanced towards co-production and a new military training agreement. Discussing global issues, the leaders addressed the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine, and West Asia. The UK Prime Minister stated his support for the Gaza peace plan, calling it a "moment of profound relief…for the civilian population of Gaza who have all endured unimaginable suffering over the last two years." The visit underscores a shared vision for a future-focused partnership in technology, trade, and security.
