India Suspends Indus Water Treaty After Terror Attack On Tourists In Baisaran Valley | India Today

Over 25 tourists were killed in a terror attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, on 22nd April 2025. The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility. In response, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty 1960 with Pakistan. The treaty, a water distribution agreement brokered by the World Bank, governs the use of six rivers in the Indus River system. This suspension could significantly impact Pakistan’s agriculture, economy, and water security.
