India has secured safe passage for its vessels through the Strait of Hormuz following diplomatic negotiations with Iran. According to news agency reports, Iran requested the release of three tankers seized by India in February as part of discussions on allowing Indian ships through the strategically important waterway. Iran also sought the supply of certain medicines during the talks. The agreement represents a diplomatic breakthrough at a time when many countries face restrictions in the strait. One Indian tanker has already reached a port in the Gulf, with more vessels expected to follow. India has reportedly agreed to release two Iranian ships currently in Indian waters and provide certain medicines to Iran as part of the arrangement.
