In a significant move for India’s international trade, the nation has finalised a Free Trade Agreement with New Zealand, marking the third such pact in 2025 after the UK and Oman. Business Today’s Karishma Asoodani reports that the deal will see tariffs reduced on 95% of New Zealand’s exports to India, providing a major boost to sectors like IT services and increasing access for Indian agriculture. Asoodani states, ‘India is not going to budge on its agri-sector no matter what,’ highlighting that the government has firmly protected the interests of its farmers, particularly in the sensitive dairy, fisheries, and agriculture sectors, a consistent stance across all its trade negotiations. The agreement is set to create jobs, facilitate skill mobility, and drive investment-related growth for both nations.
