On the final day of the Monsoon Session, Independent MP from Daman and Diu, Umesh Patel, staged an unusual protest inside Parliament. Holding a banner that read, “Ruling and opposition parties must apologise,” Patel demanded accountability for what he called a “washed-out” session. He argued that the enormous cost of running Parliament, squandered amid repeated disruptions, should be recovered from the Members of Parliament themselves.
