Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju faced a stormy Rajya Sabha session as the Opposition demanded an urgent discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The demand was triggered by the reported suicide of a Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Moradabad earlier that day, which the Opposition linked to work pressure. While Rijiju asserted the government was ‘ready to discuss’ electoral reforms, Opposition members cited a ‘trust deficit’ and refused to yield.
