India has decided to hold the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan in abeyance following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed Hindu tourists. The government cited Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorism as a fundamental change in circumstances. A high-level meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah discussed short-term and long-term measures to implement this decision. India has formally notified Pakistan about suspending the treaty. Pakistan’s Defense Minister admitted supporting terror groups, calling it ‘dirty work’. Prime Minister Modi vowed strong retaliation, triggering panic in Pakistan. India has also revoked visas for Pakistani nationals and closed the Attari border. The DRDO successfully tested a scramjet combustor for hypersonic missile technology.
