India-China Talks: Wang Yi in Delhi Amid Border Tensions & Opposition Questions | India Today

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Delhi for a two-day visit, marking the first such visit by a top Chinese diplomat since the deadly Galwan clashes in 2020. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized that India-China relations must be guided by mutual respect, mutual sensitivities, and mutual interest. He stated, "The basis for any positive momentum in our ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas." Wang Yi is scheduled to hold the 24th round of border talks with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The visit comes ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin, China, later this month, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend. The visit has drawn criticism from the opposition, including Jairam Ramesh and Asaduddin Owaisi. They have questioned the timing given Chinese assistance to Pakistan during Operation Sindhu, ongoing tensions along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, the new Medong Dam on the Yalang-Sangpo, buffer zones in Ladakh, and the trade imbalance. #indiachina #wangyi #jaishankar #itwebvideos #scosummit #bordertalks #lac #galwan #diplomacy #foreignpolicy #indiatoday #opposition #traderelations #nationalsecurity #ladakh #arunachalpradesh #operationsindhu
