India and China have agreed on patrolling and disengagement along the line of actual control in Ladakh, ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s departure for the BRICS summit in Russia. This is seen as a significant military and diplomatic victory for India, following years of border tensions. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the agreement, which comes two years after the two nations managed to disengage from the 2020 friction points. The agreement also refers to two legacy friction points dating back to the previous government.
