India face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tonight. The reigning champions are eyeing to retain the World Cup they won in 2024, while New Zealand will be looking to win their first ever T20 World Cup title. Fans across the nation have performed puja for the victory of the men in blue, with a special train ferrying supporters from Delhi to Ahmedabad for the finals. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has suggested two changes to the playing eleven, recommending that Rinku Singh replace Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav come in for Varun Chakravarty. Abhishek Sharma scored just 89 runs in the entire tournament so far with three consecutive ducks and an average of 12.71 in seven matches. Varun Chakravarty, despite being the joint highest wicket-taker, has picked only four wickets from the Group 8 stage, with his economy rate ballooning to 11.6 from 5.2.
