India created history by becoming the first team to successfully defend their T20 World Cup title and the first to win three T20 World Cup crowns. The men in blue defeated New Zealand in a one-sided final that was described as a hammering rather than a contest. Captain Suryakumar Yadav showed visible relief after the victory, touching the pitch and applying sand to his forehead as a mark of respect. India entered the tournament as favourites and lost only one match in their entire campaign, against South Africa. The victory erases memories of previous final defeats, including the ODI World Cup final loss to Australia on 19th November 2023 at the same venue in Ahmedabad. The entire squad, including players who did not feature in the playing eleven such as Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh, celebrated the historic achievement.
