Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the IDFC First Bank scam involving the alleged siphoning of ₹590 crores from Haryana government accounts. Among those detained are alleged mastermind Riba Rishi, two former IDFC First Bank employees, and two private operators. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has claimed that ₹556 crores have been recovered and returned to government coffers. The scam came to light when a government department requested a fund transfer, revealing a balance mismatch. On 18th February, the Haryana government de-empanelled IDFC First Bank, and on 21st February, the bank admitted to the discrepancy in a formal letter. The Anti-Corruption Bureau is investigating the modus operandi, including how funds were diverted to firms created by the accused. Chief Minister Saini has formed a high-level committee under the finance secretary and stated that anyone involved, whether bank employees or government officials, will face action.
