In a press conference, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amarpreet Singh detailed the success of Operation Sindoor, which followed the Pahalgam attack. He dismissed Pakistan’s claims of downing Indian jets as a "Manohar Kahani" or a made-up story. The IAF Chief stated that the operation would be remembered in history, highlighting the longest kill achieved at over 300 kilometers inside enemy territory and noting that Pakistan lost nine to ten aircraft. He identified the integrated air defense system as a key factor, stating, "Our robust air defense infrastructure… worked out to be a game-changer." The chief also provided updates on the IAF’s modernization, confirming the AMCA project’s first flight is planned for around 2028 with induction by 2035, and the force expects to receive the Tejas Mark 1A fighters soon.
