Heavy overnight rains have lashed Hyderabad, Telangana, leading to widespread flooding. The Moosi River is overflowing after the gates of the Himayat Sargam and Usman Sagar dams were opened due to heavy inflow in upper catchment areas. This has resulted in the inundation of several low-lying areas, flooding homes and roads such as the Musarambag Bridge. Authorities have diverted traffic and are evacuating residents. In response, the chief minister has asked all concerned departments "to be on high alert" to coordinate and ensure the safety of people in affected areas. The GHMC and DRF teams are on the ground shifting people from low-lying areas to rehabilitation centres. The forecast department has predicted more heavy rain for the city.
