Heavy overnight rains have caused severe flooding in Hyderabad and parts of Telangana. The downpour led to the opening of gates at the Himachal Sagar and Usman Sagar dams, causing the Moosi River to overflow and inundate several low-lying areas. Houses and roads along the 54-kilometer stretch of the river in the city are submerged, forcing many residents to evacuate, while some remain stranded on terraces awaiting rescue. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken stock of the situation, instructing officials to be on high alert and evacuate people from affected areas to ensure there is no loss of life. The IMD has issued a high alert for two days as authorities, including the GHMC and police, work to manage the crisis.
