However, a new study by Graz University in Austria reveals that some popular hybrid models emit far more carbon dioxide than officially claimed. BMW’s 3 Series, Peugeot’s 308, and Renault’s Megane all exceeded their advertised emission levels during real-world tests. The research, commissioned by Transport & Environment (T&E), raises serious concerns about the environmental claims made by carmakers. Experts now argue that lawmakers should base regulations on actual emissions data, not lab results. This discovery could change how hybrids are viewed in the push for greener transportation.
