In a historic first, Aero India 2025 will feature the F-35 Lightning II and Su-57 Felon, marking the debut of two fifth-generation stealth fighters at India’s premier air show. The Defence Ministry confirmed their participation, calling it a “milestone in global defence collaboration.” The event, to be held at Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru, from February 10-14, will host 900+ exhibitors, including 150 foreign firms, making it the largest edition to date.
The F-35, a U.S.-designed stealth strike platform, excels in networked warfare, sensor fusion, and deep penetration missions. The Russian Su-57, built for air superiority, boasts superior manoeuvrability and infrared tracking, making it a formidable hunter. While the F-35 dominates in stealth and beyond-visual-range (BVR) combat, the Su-57 offers better agility, lower costs, and potential technology transfer—a key factor for India.
India faces a strategic choice: invest in the F-35 for first-strike capability or opt for the Su-57 to strengthen indigenous defence capabilities. As Aero India 2025 unfolds, this high-profile showcase will fuel discussions on India’s future fighter procurement and military modernization.
