Paleontologists have unearthed fossils of giant sea scorpions, some as large as adult humans, that lived over 400 million years ago. These extinct arthropods, called pterygotid eurypterids, were found in New South Wales, Australia, dating back to the Silurian and Devonian periods. Fossil evidence suggests these massive creatures may have crossed ancient oceans, contributing to their global spread. Their extinction remains a mystery, though scientists suspect major environmental shifts were to blame.
