NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has captured a breathtaking image of the Prawn Nebula, a massive stellar nursery formally known as IC 4628. Located about 6,000 light-years away from Earth and spanning 250 light-years, this emission nebula is a birthplace for new stars. The glowing gas and dust result from young stars ionizing the surrounding material, which re-emits energy as infrared light — invisible to the human eye but detectable by Hubble. Using its Wide Field Camera 3, Hubble can observe details that ground-based telescopes cannot. This image is part of a larger effort to study stars in their early stages. The result is a stunning look into the cosmic process of star formation.
