Speaking in the Lok Sabha, HM Amit Shah, representing 12 states and 20 crore tribal population, stated that ‘लाल आतंक का परछाया’ (shadow of red terror) prevented development in Bastar for decades. He credited the Narendra Modi government for bringing development to the region, including schools, ration shops, primary health centres, Aadhaar cards, ration cards, five kilograms of free grain, and gas connections. Shah questioned why these benefits did not reach Bastar earlier when the rest of India received them after 2014. He asserted that Naxalism is nearly eliminated from Bastar and criticised those defending the armed movement, stating that the Constitution provides mechanisms to address injustice through courts and assemblies. Shah also questioned the Congress party, noting that despite ruling for 60 out of 75 years, tribal areas remained underdeveloped. He mentioned that 20,000 youths died on either side of the conflict and blamed the spread of Naxalism on leftist ideology adopted since 1970.
