In an exclusive interview, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addresses the disaster unfolding in the state following four days of relentless rain. He states that around 1,500 devotees have been rescued from Manimesh with assistance from the Air Force. The Chief Minister primarily attributes the widespread destruction, including unprecedented rainfall in regions like Lahaul-Spiti, to climate change and global warming, leading to frequent cloudbursts. Significant damage has been reported to National Highways, particularly the Kullu-Manali road, along with local roads and power and water infrastructure. Sukhu also points to flawed road construction, referencing a statement about incorrect DPRs for national highways, saying, "I was watching a statement of Gadkari Ji that the DPR which has been made sitting on Google is a wrong DPR."
