Heavy rains in Dehradun’s Maldivta area caused a sudden surge in the Song river, forcing workers mining along the riverbank to flee. The floodwaters swept away their tools, equipment, and personal belongings, submerging their makeshift huts. The meteorological department had issued an alert for heavy rain across Uttarakhand. An orange alert has been issued for Monday and Tuesday, with a red alert for Uttarkashi district on May 7th and 8th.
