In a tragic incident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, four Indian Army personnel, including Captain Brijesh Thapa, lost their lives following a fierce gunfight with heavily armed terrorists. Captain Thapa, a second-generation officer from the Rajput Regiment, was commissioned in 2019 and led his troops courageously in the operation. The encounter began based on intelligence inputs about terrorist presence in the Dhari Gote Urarbagi area. As the joint forces of Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area, the terrorists opened fire, resulting in a deadly confrontation. Despite challenging conditions, Captain Thapa led his men valiantly, but he and three other soldiers succumbed to their injuries.
The Indian Army conveyed its deepest condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers, recognizing their sacrifice in maintaining regional peace. This incident marks the third major terrorist attack in Doda within three weeks, highlighting a recent escalation in violence in the region. The Kashmir Tigers, a shadow group of Jaish-e-Mohammed, claimed responsibility for the attack, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
