In the ongoing election, the gap between the winner and the runner-up is less than 1,000 votes. The Congress is currently leading in four seats. However, if the votes get evenly split, the Congress might lose two seats, and the BJP could gain two, taking the BJP past 50. There are 20 seats where the margin is less than three thousand. At present, the BJP is leading in seven seats, and the Congress is leading in twelve. Despite the BJP leading by larger margins, the Congress is still leading over the BJP in the state vote share.
