Haridwar Stampede: Chaos at Mansa Devi Temple; Several Dead | India Today
A stampede occurred at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday after a large crowd gathered on the stairway. Six people have died and more than 35 have been injured, with five individuals shifted to AIIMS for treatment. The panic was reportedly triggered by a hoax about an electrocution. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken stock of the situation and announced financial aid of Rupees 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rupees 50,000 for those injured. A magisterial probe into the incident has been ordered. The Chief Minister stated, “A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into this incident and it is being investigated why and how this rumour spread, whoever is found guilty in this will have action taken against them.”
