The UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has officially declared a famine in Gaza, where over half a million people are now trapped in conditions of extreme hunger. The declaration comes nearly two years after the Israel-Hamas war triggered a devastating siege. Israel’s military campaign has destroyed much of Gaza’s food production and supply infrastructure, leaving civilians — especially children — facing lethal levels of starvation and malnutrition.
